OPEK AI Seminar 2024

On the 12th of February, the intelligent AR assistant for education which is part of the XR4ED platform was presented at a national event entitled ‘AI in modern life-The impact on society and Media’. The event was co-organized by OPEC and CYENS and was supported by the Municipality Nicosia.

It offered the possibility of active participation of citizens in the co-demand that will grow, highlighting the modern trends, approaches, and projectiles. The event consisted of two parts, a live demonstration session where XR4ED was presented and the second part of academic presentations.

XR4ED Presented at AI in Education Panel

The Vice-Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy organized today a Conference on "Artificial Intelligence as a factor creating a development perspective". The purpose of the conference was to boost the activity of the research community in the field of Artificial Intelligence and, at the same time, to exploit the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence by the wider public and private sectors.

The keynote speaker at the Conference was Professor Chrysostomos Nikias who discussed the perspective opened by Artificial Intelligence and the challenges that accompany it. In the special panel about AI in Education, I presented an overview of the XR4ED EU project together with the latest results from CYENS - Centre of Excellence.

Inclusive AR/VR Experiences Workshop

Today, I participated at a one-day workshop entitled ‘Inclusive AR/VR Experiences’ sponsored by Facebook. The workshop aimed in defining the routes for creating inclusive AR/VR experiences focusing on range of people with a range of impairments and their personal experiences.

The title of the project is ‘Inclusive Immersion Project’ and my role was to provide feedback in the fourth working group that dealt with cognitive issues. Areas that were covered are: software and hardware usability barriers, ethics, collaboration and interaction, and lack of inclusion and integration.
