This half-day workshop aims to explore the potential of V-Commerce (the use of immersive environments for trading). With the rise of virtual world applications such as Second Life, Forterra, OpenSim and others, the use of immersive environments to support digital commerce has emerged and virtual retail parks and trading models are becoming more widely available.
The session will explore some diverse perspectives on v-commerce and provide illustrative examples from practice. It will seek to address such questions as: will V-Commerce be as successful as E-Commerce; how does shopping in a 3D environment compare to traditional E-Commerce; what are the challenges and opportunities for V-Commerce.
