On the 15th of
December 2012, I have been invited to participate in a debate about the impact
of robotics and artificial intelligence in our lives as part of the Festival of
Science and Technology 2012. This was organised in collaboration with the
National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF), Dimokritos National Centre for
Science Research and EPISEY (Institute of Communication & Computer Systems).
The debate involved six academics
from various Universities and backgrounds including engineering, computer
science, philosophy and theology. Three
of them supported the argument and the other three were against. About 100
participants voted twice, once before the debate and another one afterwards,
and the outcome was that the impact is positive to everyday life.
