A few weeks ago, I presented a
paper I co-authored with colleagues from the Interactive Worlds Applied Research
Group (iWARG) and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. It was presented at the
International Workshop on Smart City and Ubiquitous Computing Applications(SCUCA 2013). The workshop took place at Madrid, Spain, 4th June
2013 in conjunction with the 14th IEEE International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks.
The paper was titled ‘A
Perceptual Study into the Behaviour of Autonomous Agents within a Virtual Urban
Environment’. The paper presents the development of a crowd simulation that is
based upon a real-life urban environment, which is then subjected to perceptual
experimentation to identify features of behaviour which can be linked to
perceived realism. Perceived realism is an important feature for entertainment
and educational purposes.
A draft version of the paper can
